Landing in Muscat, the capital of Oman, pass through customs and behold men and women in their national dress. Muscat has brand new infrastructure, with bleached white mosques and buildings. Muscat sits on the Gulf of Oman with a beautiful downtown shoreline with restaurants and a small flea market, keep in mind that alcohol is only served in hotels, so do not go looking for free standing bars.
Drive to Shraqiya Sands, a region of desert southeast of Muscat, and do not be surprised to see packs of camels along the drive on the highways. Stay overnight in the desert, on a clear night the desert sky is a majestical outdoor planetarium.
Enjoy the cuisine, absorb the Omani culture from their fashion to their rich landscape. Dive in!
